Each candidate must maintain a 2.5 GPA, play in a high school sport, demonstrate community involvement, show the ability to overcome adversity to reach their goals, and write a 1-3 page essay based on their experiences. There were over 20 high school senior candidates in attendance from many different Santa Clara Valley high schools. While Matthew was not awarded a scholarship at this awards breakfast, he felt honored to be recognized as one of Santa Clara Valley’s top student Matthew met former San Francisco 49er cornerback /  Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ronnie Lott, and Womens Soccer World Cup & Olympic champion, Brandi Chastain.

What is Silicon Valley Gives?

On Tuesday, May 5, 2015, Silicon Valley Gives will raise money for local nonprofits through a single online donation platform, providing a simple way to connect donors to the charitable causes they care about most and encourage them to take action. One of the pillars of SVCF’s mission is to strengthen the common good locally.

This 24-hour online fundraising effort hosted by SVCF with the help of sponsors, will offer thousands of nonprofits the chance to raise millions of dollars.

The San Jose Steamrollers , are one of 850 local non profits participating in this 24 hour campaign of giving on Tuesday, May 5th.

Please help us out on May 5th by logging into our donation page and making a donation. There are many private foundations that have pledged matching gifts and hourly prize money for most donors in the hour, so all gifts large and small will make a difference. Please help us defray the travel and equipment expenses for those players that are on limited incomes and can’t afford the cost of travel to our National Tournament in Fort Wayne, Indiana, or to purchase the specialized equipment needed to compete in our sport.
