Steamrollers Roll Through SoCal Vaqueros In January Matches

Socal Video Snip

On Saturday, January 28th the Steamrollers hosted their rivals the SoCal Vaqueros in three matches played at the Bascom Community Center gym. The Steamrollers defense was strong all day long, spearheaded by excellent goal tending by Jairo Solorio. All three matches were very physical, but the Steamrollers came out on top in each of the three matches through strong team play of moving the ball around the court to well positioned teammates. The Steamrollers centers and wings, Ryan Connolly, Omar Solorio, Stanley Kuang, and Chris Faria, each scored at least one goal across the three games. The lone Steamrollers wing without a goal, Sid Karnala, didn’t go home empty handed though, as he received the only yellow card of the day. Below are the game scores for the day.

Game 1: Steamrollers 2 vs Vaqueros 1

Game 2: Steamroller 3 vs Vaqueros 1

Game 3: Steamrollers 2 vs Vaqueros 0

Steamrollers Are Part of the 2016 #GivingTuesday Campaign

What is #GivingTuesday?

Every year, following the Thanksgiving turkey craze, the hustle and bustle of Black Friday, and the frenzy of Cyber Monday, is #GivingTuesday. It’s not coincidence that #GivingTuesday follows two of the biggest shopping days of the year-it’s designed that way to remind people of what the holiday season is really about-giving.

On #GivingTuesday, millions of Americas are encouraged to give back to their communities by volunteering at a local shelter, helping a person in need, or donating to a notable cause.

This is the first year that the Steamrollers will be participating in the #GivingTuesday national campaign. All funds raised will be used to assist Wheelchair athletes in need of assistance to fund their travel expenses to our National Tournament in June. Many of our athletes are on limited incomes and can’t afford the extensive cost of airfare and rental wheelchair vans required to participate with their team in our national tournament.

Please help spread the word of this #GivingTuesday campaign by sharing on your social networks.
